- Site inspections will occur by your Customer Service Representative eight (8) times per year for quality of work and for Integrated Pest Management monitoring. Control measures listed below are normally sufficient; however, if other applications are necessary they will be done at an extra charge.
- First level priority scheduling from mid-week onward.
- A site visit in January and February to remove site debris and structurally prune deciduous shrubs and trees less than twelve feet (12’).
- Remove debris from lawn areas and debris and visible weeds from plant beds. Note that spring weeds appear on an ongoing basis. Plant bed weeds not seen at the time of the spring clean up will be removed at the next scheduled weekly visit. Perennial weeds in beds and lawns will be controlled by hand weeding and/or the application of an herbicide applied directly to the weed.
- Surface fertilize shrubs, small trees less than twelve feet (12’), perennials and ground covers with an appropriate organic fertilizer.
- Re-edge plant beds with mechanical edger or by hand where mechanical edger cannot be used.
- Prune shrubs and small trees less than twelve feet (12’) (I) plus perennials and ground covers in order to maintain a controlled growth habit and appearance. Mow liriope to 3” where accessible by a lawn mower and hand shear in beds not accessible by a mower.
- Re-mulch bed areas to maintain a nominal depth of one and one half to two inches (1 ½ -2”) of mulch using our standard shredded hardwood bark mulch. (II)
- Bed areas will receive an application of a pre-emergent herbicide. For lawn areas see Turf Care Visits below.
- Plant bed areas will receive an application of a systemic insecticide for annual control of leaf eating insects.
- Weekly lawn mowing will occur as needed. During the hot summer months when the lawn does not grow at least ½” or the grass is under drought stress mowing will not occur. During the spring lawns will not be mowed if they are too wet where mowing would be harmful to the grass area. Additionally mowing will occur the first two weeks of November as needed. (III) Mowing begins in early April and continues through the end of October. Grass will be mowed at a height 2 ½ - 3 inches.
- Lawns will be mowed with mulching mowers which prepare the grass clippings to recycle back into your lawn’s ecosystem. Mechanically string trim edges along paved surfaces and plant beds at every other visit fifteen (15) times per season.
- Plant beds will be weeded and the debris removed at each weekly visit. Weeds will be controlled by hand weeding in high visibility areas and by chemical control in less visible areas and/or in large beds.
- Minor pruning of shrubs and small trees less than twelve feet (12’) (I) plus perennials and ground covers in order to maintain a controlled growth habit and appearance during the service period. (IV)
- Power blow lawns and hard surfaces as needed.
- All organic debris removed from your garden will be recycled in our GreenWaste recycling program to produce compost.
- During October to mid-November visits partial, but not complete, leaf removal will occur at each visit. We will focus on the lawn areas, saving most of the bed areas until your final leaf removal visit.
- Horticultural pruning of shrubs and small trees less than twelve feet (12’) occurs three times per year. One pruning occurs around the time of your spring clean up, a second pruning occurs in the June-July timeframe and the third pruning occurs in the July-August timeframe.
- At the time of the spring clean up turf areas will receive an application of a combination fertilizer with low nitrogen content and a pre-emergent weed seed control. Note that if winter/spring overseeding has occurred pre-emergent control cannot be applied.
- Apply two (2) post-emergent weed control applications with light fertilization in early summer. (VI)
- Fall lawn renovation will occur mid-August through mid-October and consists of mechanical core aeration of turf areas if needed, application of compost or seed-aid and fertilizer along with overseeding with blended tall fescue grass seed.
- Perform turf area soil test in late fall or winter and modify the soil ph as necessary in the turf areas.
- Your garden will be visited mid-November through December to remove leaves and debris from your lawn and plant beds. The leaves removed from your garden will be placed at the curb for city or county pick up in neighborhoods where this service is provided. Leaves will be placed in wooded area on your property if available. Otherwise leaves will be removed from your property and will be recycled in our GreenWaste recycling program to produce compost.
- Remove debris from lawn areas and debris and visible weeds from plant beds.
- Re-edge plant beds with mechanical edger or by hand where mechanical edger cannot be used.
- Re-mulch bed areas to maintain a nominal depth of one and one half to two inches (1 ½ -2”) of mulch using our standard shredded hardwood bark mulch. Bed areas containing ericaceous plants will be mulched with compost or pine bark fines where appropriate and at a mulch depth of a nominal one inch (1”) to assist in pH control.
- Fall fertilization for plants that require additional fertilization.
- Final removal of leaves from lawns and beds.
Debris removal from major storm damage is not covered with your service and will be billed as a Time and Materials extra charge.
